Vasile Tiron is currently a senior researcher and has over 15 years of experience in plasma assisted thin film deposition, plasma diagnostics methods and material characterization techniques. His research interests include thin film deposition by High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HiPIMS) and plasma diagnostics by Langmuir / emissive probe measurements, electrostatic analyzer, magnetic deflection ion energy analyzer, mass spectrometry, optical emission spectroscopy, fast imaging, laser absorption and laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy.

He has solid scientific backgrounds in material characterization in terms of: structural (XRD, RAMAN, SEM), chemical (XPS, RBS, EDX, GDOES), topological (AFM), piezoelectric (PFM), magnetic (MFM), optical (UV-Vis Transmittance), electrical (Four Point Probe), mechanical (nanoindentation) and tribological (nanoscratch and wearing) properties.
