Ana-Maria Gînsac is a senior researcher at the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Department, Institute of Interdisciplinary Research, “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași and associated lecturer in Classical Philology (Latin – Ancient Greek) at the Faculty of Letters within the same university.
Her research has focused mainly on the history of the Romanian language between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the first Romanian translations of the Bible from Greek, Latin and Church Slavonic (Monumenta linguae Dacoromanorum. Biblia 1688) and the translation practices of foreign onomastics in Romanian (Proper Names in the Romanian Pre-modern Writing (1780-1830): Translation Practices). Her investigations touch on linguistics, history of Romanian, Romanian-Cyrillic palaeography, onomastics, translation studies, old Romanian lexicography, written cultural heritage, cross-cultural communication.
